Choosing the right image format

Each image format has its strengths. JPG is the most widely accepted format for photos and keeps files small. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it a good fit for logos, screenshots and graphics. WebP is a modern format that typically produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar quality and is supported by current browsers. Converting lets you match whatever an app, website or form requires.

Intera Tools reads JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF and SVG images and saves them as JPG, PNG or WebP. Some input formats depend on what your browser can open: HEIC photos, for example, can only be opened in Safari. Animated GIFs are converted using their first frame. Because JPG has no transparency, transparent areas are filled with a background color of your choice when you convert to JPG.

Conversion happens entirely in your browser, so there is no upload and no copy of your files on a server. Metadata such as EXIF and GPS location is removed from the converted images. You can convert up to 100 images per batch, download them all as a ZIP, or send them straight to Compress Image to reduce their size further.

Which formats can I convert to?

You can convert images to JPG, PNG or WebP.

Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?

HEIC files can only be opened in Safari, because other browsers cannot decode them. In Safari you can convert them to JPG, PNG or WebP like any other image.

What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose. White is used by default.

Can I convert multiple images at once?

Yes. Add up to 100 images and they are all converted to the format you select.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Images are converted locally in your browser and are never uploaded to or stored on Intera Tools servers.
